When was the last time you did something for the first time?
We should all be lucky enough to feel anxious, excited, nervous, maybe even a little bit scared on a somewhat regular basis. Those feelings mean we are pushing ourselves out of our comfort zone and into uncharted territory.

When was the last time you did something for the first time?

----- long drawn out pause allowing you to REALLY consider this question ---

Did you go back and read the question again? If not, please do so now... slowly and with real attention.

Can you remember the last time you were challenged somehow by a brand new experience? Do you remember the feelings? Were you anxious? Nervous? Elated? Thrilled? Excited? Did your palms get a little sweaty? Did you laugh til you cried? Could you just not stop smiling? Did you have that little uneasy feeling in your tummy? We should all be lucky enough to have those feelings from time to time as we travel through our life. Those feelings mean we are pushing ourselves out of our comfort zone and into uncharted territory. And that, my dear friends, is a big part of what this adventure we are living is all about!

I mean just think about it... how awesome is that very "first time"? I vividly remember every feeling that went along with each of my "firsts". I bet you do too. I bet you're smiling a little right now remembering that first ___________. It only makes sense to give ourselves the opportunity to have as many "first times" as humanly possible, right?

But the thing about "first times" is, as we live longer they come along a little less naturally. We, as adults, have to recognize and react quickly and positively when a "first time" opportunity comes along. Eventually (with us "mature adults" ;-) it's necessary to very consciously seek those "first time" opportunities out. But, I promise you this, those "first time feelings" never, ever get old! They are just as magical today as when I was sixteen! So continue to recognize, seek out, say "yes" to, embrace and enjoy every single "first time" opportunity that you can. You'll cherish each and every one of them, always!
