Encore Dancewear has been serving the dance community since 1982 as a trusted brick-and-mortar store—and now, we’re proud to bring our curated selection of quality dancewear to the online world!
In April 2022, Encore entered a new era under the ownership of Ms. Angela—a lifelong dancer with a deep, personal connection to the store. In fact, Angela bought her very first pair of ballet shoes at Encore when she was just 18 months old! Born and raised in New Jersey, she trained and performed across NJ, NY, PA, and AZ under esteemed instructors such as Frank Hatchett, David Howard, and Marcia Dale Weary, to name a few.
Angela’s love for dance led her to dream of a professional career, which she pursued passionately—earning high accolades including a perfect score and Distinction in her RAD exams. However, her path took an unexpected turn when a major car accident after high school nearly ended her dancing days. She was told she might lose the use of her right arm, Angela defied the odds. Through multiple surgeries, physical therapy, and sheer determination, she returned to the stage—dancing, teaching, and leading with grace and grit.
Her journey includes performing in musicals like Mary Poppins, Spamalot, and West Side Story, touring with Dance America & Dance Olympus, and even appearing on So You Think You Can Dance previews. Angela also danced with a modern company in Arizona before transitioning into a new chapter: working as a personal assistant in New York City for the legendary Judy Collins, managing her tour and personal schedule across the world. In this roll she also assisted on a few of Ms. Collins’ Albums, including the Grammy nominated Spellbound. Along working for Ms. Collins, Angela also worked with a management company assisting artists from California, Norway, & Germany.
When the opportunity arose to purchase Encore Dancewear, Angela knew it was more than a business—it was a calling to bring her back to the dance world. Today, she brings her dance expertise, love for people, and commitment to education into every fitting and interaction at Encore.
